The Churchyards at both of our churches are open, and both are attractive and well-maintained. However, with limited space available the PCCs of the two churches have passed resolutions, strictly applied, restricting who may be buried there to:
· Those who were resident in the Parish at the time of death;
· Those who had been resident in the Parish until ill-health required them to move to a residential care home;
· Regular worshipping members of the congregation who lived outside the Parish;
· Anyone whose spouse is already buried in the churchyard.
Similar restrictions also apply regarding the Burial of Ashes in the Churchyards following a cremation.
Most of the graves (including burials of ashes) in both Brewood and Bishops Wood churchyards are marked by Memorial Stones dedicated to the person who has died.
No such Monument can be introduced to the churchyard without first completing a ‘Memorial Application form’ which will need to be given to the stonemason and then sent to the Vicar for authorisation.
